Many
agencies,
employers,
military
and
service
organizations
award
funds to
students.
Receipt
of these
external
awards
may
result
in a
reduction
of
financial
aid from
Mercer.
Therefore,
if you
are a
financial
aid
recipient,
you must
notify
the
Office
of
Student
Financial
Planning,
in
writing,
of any
resources
you anticipate
receiving
from
sources
other
than
Mercer.
To the
extent
possible,
we will
adjust
loan
awards
before
reducing
grant
funds.
Students
whose
tuition
is
covered
by an
outside
source
are not
eligible
for
merit
tuition
awards
from the
University.
Examples
of
outside
sources
include
Veterans'
Benefits,
Vocational
Rehab,
Athletics,
Tuition
Waiver,
Employer
Reimbursements,
etc..
It is
also
your
responsibility
to
notify
the
Office
of
Student
Financial
Planning
of any
special
instructions
or
billing
information
regarding
external
funds.
All
checks
for
these
awards
must be
sent to
the
Office
of
Student
Financial
Planning.
No
credit
will be
entered
on your
account
before
the
check
arrives.
It is
Mercer's
policy
to
equally
divide
external
scholarships
between
fall
tuition
and
spring
tuition
each
semester
unless
otherwise
specified
by the
donor.

Authorization

is
initially
awarded
(i.e.,

identical
to all
other

Any
academic
scholarship
received

year is
based
upon the
student’s
high
school
GPA and
SAT/ACT
score.
Beginning
with a
ROTC
three
year
designee’s
sophomore
year,
the Army
ROTC
Tuition
Scholarship
becomes
effective.
The
recipients
Merit
Award is
cancelled
and the
Army
ROTC
Tuition
Scholarship
and HOPE
pay
tuition.
Any aid
from
other
sources
such as
Pell
Grant
and
Georgia
Tuition
Equalization
Grant
will go
towards
room and
board
and
Mercer
will
make up
the
difference
up to
the
amounts
indicated
above.
In no
circumstance
may the
total

and
board
charges
for the
student.

in their
actual
rent
charges
and the
amount
of their
Mercer
Room
scholarship.
Students
are only
given
Board
Scholarships
if they
contract
with the
University
for a
Meal
Plan.
The
