SPECIAL ENROLLMENT OPTIONS
The Office of Student Financial Planning must reevaluate your eligibility for aid if you will attend Mercer University for only one semester of an academic year due to graduation, deferral of enrollment, co-op employment, or other reasons. Please notify us as soon as possible so we can promptly notify you of any adjustments.

If you are planning to study abroad, you should meet with the Study Abroad Coordinator, obtain a detailed budget of your trip, and bring it to your Financial Aid Counselor as far in advance as possible. This is necessary to determine your eligibility for financial aid and to make special arrangements for award disbursement. For summer school or summer Study Abroad, you must complete a separate summer financial aid application by March 1.

We cannot offer additional grant or scholarship funds for Study Abroad programs.  However, eligible students may apply their standard financial aid awards toward approved Study Abroad programs as long as they will be receiving at least 12 semester hours during their Study Abroad term. To apply, obtain a completed Permission to Study Abroad Form and a certified Study Abroad budget from the Study Abroad Office, and submit all forms to the OSFP.

Financial Aid for Summer terms is very limited. The OSFP does not receive extra allocations of grant, work, scholarship, or loan funds for summer school. Only students who will have remaining eligibility from the prior academic year may be eligible to receive summer aid (this applies to summer Study Abroad programs as well). Students must be enrolled at least 12 hours during the Summer Semester to receive any consideration for merit awards.Merit scholarships are typically 50 percent of one Semester's awards for full-time students; e.g., if the student receives $500 per semester fall and spring, the summer award amount will not exceed $250.

To apply for summer aid, you must submit a separate Summer Application for Financial Aid by March 1. These forms are available  from the OSFP. Students must enroll full-time (at least 12 hours) in the summer to receive any Mercer funds or State funds.
